Minor injuries in Tuesday crash

The wanted vehicle reportedly had struck a parked car in the Gettysburg National Military Park. No additional information was available by press time. n Two drivers were injured in a collision that occurred Friday in Straban Township. State Trooper Scott A. Weaver reported that Amy R. Helsel, 37, York Springs, driving a 2009 Toyota Matrix, struck the rear of a 2001 Kia Sportage, being operated by Louise G. Brady, 54, New Oxford, around 8:15 a.m. on Route 30. Brady’s vehicle was stopped when it was struck from behind. Brady suffered moderate injuries in the accident and was transported by Gettysburg ambulance to Gettysburg Hospital for treatment. Helsel suffered minor injuries and was not transported for medical attention. Helsel was cited for careless driving. n Three individuals were transported for medical attention following a one-vehicle accident that occurred Friday in Mount Joy Township. According to state Trooper Barry J. Malesky, Robert Null, 71, Colorado Springs, Co., driving a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara, was traveling on Baltimore Pike around 2 p.m. when the vehicle veered off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox and a utility pole, then traveled down an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll several times. Null was transported to Carroll County Hospital, as were passengers James Null, 70, and Larry Null, 63. Police did not state if citations would be issued. Medic 28, Littlestown Fire Department and ambulance, and fire police, assisted state police at the scene. n A squirrel was blamed for a one-vehicle accident that occurred Friday in Straban Township. State Trooper Jeffrey R. Sweeney reported that Heather L. Davies, 33, Biglerville, driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, was traveling north on Route 394 in the area of Culp Road around 5 p.m. when a squirrel entered the roadway as the driver negotiated a curve. The driver stated she swerved to avoid the animal, resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and crashing. Davies was uninjured. Police did not state if citations would be issued. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene. n Marcus Jermaine Dorsey, 26, Hanover, was arrested by state police for driving under the influence around 2:36 a.m. at York and Hanover streets, Gettysburg Borough, according to Trooper Sean Hoffman. n Ruben Hinojosa-Castaneda, 23, Arendtsville, was arrested by state police for driving under the influence around 9:53 p.m. Saturday following a traffic stop in the 600 block of Route 234, Menallen Township, according to Trooper Cpl. Matthew D. Nickey. n Daniel Lupian-Estrada, 50, Aspers, was arrested by state police for driving under the influence around 3:09 a.m. Saturday following a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Route 34 (Carlisle Road), Menallen Township, according to Trooper George Ross. n State police are continuing to seek information on an incident in which an object was thrown at a moving vehicle Monday in Straban Township. Trooper Maeve A. Feldmann reported that Don Schafer, 70, Huntington Township, was traveling north on Route 15 between routes 394 and 234 around 10 a.m. when he heard an object strike his vehicle.
